ASEAN Policy Advocate & Business Leader

Jukhee Hong is a leading advocate for ASEAN economic integration, actively shaping regional policies through cross-sectoral engagement. With extensive experience in business-to-government policy advocacy, she represents the private sector in high-level consultations with ASEAN government leaders and ministers.

Currently a PhD candidate at Xian Jiaotong University, China, Jukhee focuses on digitalisation and climate change, key drivers of sustainable economic growth in ASEAN.

Leadership in ASEAN Policy & Economic Research

From 2010 to 2022, Jukhee led CARI ASEAN Research & Advocacy and its predecessor, CIMB ASEAN Research Institute, both dedicated to advancing ASEAN economic integration through policy advocacy and research.

She played a crucial role in fostering economic collaboration among ASEAN member states, providing strategic insights to policymakers, business leaders, and trade stakeholders.

 

Key Roles in APEC & ASEAN Business Networks

Before Malaysia’s cabinet reshuffle in March 2020, Jukhee served as Executive Director of the APEC Business Advisory Council (APEC-BAC), representing 21 economies, including Malaysia as the host country. She also spearheaded efforts to organize the APEC CEO Summit 2020, one of the region’s most prominent business events.

Additionally, as Executive Director of the ASEAN Business Club, she led high-level business delegations across ASEAN and beyond, including Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Vietnam, and the United Kingdom, engaging with top dignitaries and corporate leaders.

A Multi-Award-Winning Media Professional

Before transitioning to ASEAN affairs, Jukhee was a trilingual media expert in Malaysia, excelling as a news anchor, host, and executive producer with over 12 years of experience. She also served as a media advisor to cabinet ministers, earning multiple awards for her contributions to journalism and broadcasting.

Driving ASEAN’s Digital & Sustainable Future

Jukhee Hong continues to shape ASEAN’s digital transformation and sustainability agenda, leveraging her expertise in policy advocacy, economic research, and media strategy. Her work bridges the gap between government policies and private sector initiatives, driving sustainable growth and regional integration.
